The Stickman weekly column was first published in April of 2001. What started as a weekly update for a small, Thailand-centric website site with a growing following has developed into a widely read, eclectic and quirky column for Bangkok-based expats, frequent visitors to Bangkok and those who love Bangkok! Think of it as a weekly column for expats and visitors interested in what is happening in Bangkok, featuring that which may not be covered by the mainstream media.
Each week I include news, views and gossip and cover Bangkok's seedy underbelly. This might include snippets of news from bars and night spots popular with Westerners, news of restaurants and eateries in Bangkok of particular appeal to Westerners, general news and issues of interest to expats such as visa law changes, work permit requirement changes, gossip from the Asian expat files with the odd bits and pieces from neighbouring countries; stuff that interests Westerners who call Bangkok home. I try to include news and gossip from Pattaya.Each week the column features a opening piece of some sort (op-ed piece / story / interview), a photo competition with prizes, email feedback, news and views of the week's happenings in Bangkok and other hot spots as well as a question and answer section where you can ask questions of a legal nature which are answered by a Bangkok law firm.
To all bar, pub and restaurant owners, please let me know about any special events, parties or promotions so I can include it in the column and inform the readership. Please note that you need to get such info to me before the Sunday before the event so that it makes the column in time!
I have traditionally included news from what I term the city's "naughty bars", read: Bangkok's infamous red light areas. For some that is the main reason to tune in. I am however trying to diversify and while I don't plan to move completely away from that, I would like to include stuff with a more widespread interest. The naughty bars are far from the best of Thailand and frankly I would rather highlight the better stuff. That said, the round up of nightlife news and gossip is a popular part of the column and as the Lonely Planet Guide to Thailand says, Stickman provides a palatable look at nightlife in Thailand!
I strive to publish the Stickman weekly column every Sunday by 6 PM Bangkok time, which corresponds to the following times around the world.

Feedback is welcome and the most interesting emails I receive appear in the emails to Stick section of the column the following week.
With the exception of the readers' emails, the thoughts in this column should not be looked at as anything more than one man's opinion of life in Bangkok. Look at the Stickman weekly column as considered opinion.
This website does not and will never contain any photos of naked women or nudity. If that is what you're looking for, there are other places to find it. This site is not one of them.
